Great Weekend

Well it has been at least a week since I posted anything here and I really have not baked anything either, cannot believe I have gone a whole week without the sound of the kitchen aid whirling away but I am hoping to come up with some new concoctions this week.

I did have a great weekend none the less, I got to spend time with my kids and their kids and it was great, Friday night the hubby and I had the grand kids, we did the McDonald's thing for dinner and our first plan was to take them to Jenkinson's to the board walk but the rain gods were not on our side so we ended up taking them to this little gaming room where they had games ( of course, hence gaming room) and they seemed to have a great time, then we came home and watched Toy Story 2 and it was wonderful. Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day so we went to the board walk and the kids played and rode rides it was terrific, I really love those little guys and I am so glad we have such fantastic family. I wish we all lived closer together but I take what I can get and will enjoy minute.

Well I am home a lone today so it is time to start the laundry and get this place cleaned up, maybe I will mess around with making gum-paste flowers or something while the wash machine does it thing. Hope everyone has a fantastic day and relaxes.

Yankee grad cake

Well it worked out. Cake was a success.

Long Day...BUT nice!

Well I got 2 cakes out the door successfully and then spent the evening on a River Boat for a 50th Anniversary Party. It was a lovely evening, the weather was perfect, the food was good and the company was wonderful.

I am now totally exhausted and going to head off to la la land, la la land is a super duper place and I hope to spend a good 8 hours there, ha I must already be there because it is funny to think that I would stay there for 8 hours, it seems to be hard to do, the older I get the less sleep I get, What's is up with that?  I could say I am going to bed and hope to sleep like a baby but who wants to do that? They sleep about 3-4 hours and are up looking for food or attention and usually are laying in a wet diaper.

Well now I am really going, tomorrow brings a new cupcake idea and the kids, well my son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter are coming for dinner. I would love for my daughter and her family to be here also but like I said they live in another state and that is not going to happen.

Success

The Yankee grad cake was a success and I am so thrilled that my friend liked it for her daughter. Unfortunately I have not figured out how to post the pic here, still checking this blogging thing out, hopefully I will get the hang of it.

Yankee Stripes

Well it is still Friday and I have been working on this graduation cake and the bottom was suppose to be white frosting with Yankee blue stripes, Oh yeah if anyone is wondering that is Yankee baseball. Well the stripes were crooked and not connecting so now the cake is entirely blue and not a Yankee baseball blue sort of a nice tropical ocean blue which would be super for the other cake I am working on but no such luck. Well now the plan is white chocolate clay fondant to cover the blue and I will use edible blue marker for the stripes and a ruler. Hmmm hoping this plan comes together. I will keep you posted if you are interested and well if your not you won't be reading this so you will have no idea I even had a dilemma. Amy if you stumble upon this information don't worry the cake will come together, they always do.

My First Blog

Well today is Friday June 24, 2011 and I decided to start blogging, not really sure what will come of this but I thought it might be fun.


I am a married mother of 2 and a grandmother of 2, My daughter gave us a beautiful little boy Elliott who is 3 and a little man already, they really do grow up way to fast and our son gave us a beautiful little girl Lily who is 2 and also a light in our lives. Unfortunately my little guy lives in another state and I do not get to see him as often as I want, our grand daughter lives about 12 minutes away and I see her  regularly but wish with all my heart we all lived closer together, I feel as though I have missed so much of grandsons life but we now have skyp and I am hoping to see him more often through that  medium.


I work full time and bake cakes and cupcakes on the side, It has become a big part of my life and I love it and wish the full time job was not needed but OH WELL!  that's life it always gets in the way of the fun things.

I am constantly looking at baking blogs and getting new ideas and inspiration, I am hoping to be able to inspire some other people with my blog to follow their dreams and their passions. To enjoy life, find their passion and go for it.

In the coming weeks I am going to try a diet and to quit smoking, if I quit smoking I will have more money to spend on baking needs. HAHA and well dieting I will give it my best shot but I keep tasting the butter cream frosting and well that is going to be a big test for me, I know the recipe is good, it is the same one every time but I still have to taste it and I don't mean a teeny bit I am talking a full finger full.

Well I hope I have peeked some of your interests to follow me and see where life leads me with my upcoming goals. Once I figure out this blog thing I will post pics of some of my cakes and cupcakes.
